Microsoft introduced Dynamics 365 Activate on September 9, 2026, in a blog post from Jeff Teper, executive vice president for Microsoft Apps and Agents. Microsoft describes it as an AI-powered tool to help partners and customers move to Dynamics 365 with less manual effort and lower migration risk. The first public preview covers organizations moving from Salesforce. According to the post, Activate analyzes an existing Salesforce CRM environment, including data, business processes, customizations and dependencies, then produces migration recommendations and runs automated migration with built-in guardrails in a Microsoft-hosted experience. Microsoft says it draws on hundreds of recent Dynamics 365 migrations.

The details

  • Microsoft says Activate has processed more than six billion data records in early customer engagements.
  • Comcast, Ziwi Pets and partners congruentX and Fusion5 are quoted in the post.
  • ERP capabilities are slated for later in 2026, with additional CRM and ERP migration scenarios to follow.
  • Planned capabilities include agentic mapping and test sampling, natural-language migration guidance and executive assessment summaries.
  • Microsoft describes three journeys for Activate: starting new, moving from a known source and growing an existing Dynamics 365 deployment.

Context

This is the first migration tool from Microsoft Dynamics 365 in our coverage. Other recent Dynamics 365 Sales items include seven partner MCP servers for Sales agents (July 21, 2026) and 30 CRM skills with a Sales Development Agent preview (October 8, 2026). Salesforce introduced Core, Advanced and Max editions on September 3, 2026, six days before this preview.
