Dynamics 365 Sales makes Opportunity Research Agent generally available

Microsoft's release plans list April 15, 2026 as the general availability date for Opportunity Research in the Dynamics 365 Sales Close Agent, after a public preview that began October 31, 2025.

Microsoft's 2026 release wave 1 plan lists Opportunity Research as generally available on April 15, 2026. The feature, part of the Sales Close Agent, aggregates insights from CRM records, emails, meetings, public sources and internal repositories. It flags new decision-makers or influencers, classifies roles such as economic buyer or champion, alerts sellers to competitor mentions, and recommends actions on risks such as stalled momentum or lost stakeholders. Microsoft says it keeps CRM stakeholder data current by adding contacts from emails and meetings and removing obsolete ones.

The details

  • Public preview: October 31, 2025; general availability: April 15, 2026.
  • Data sources include CRM, SharePoint, public web sources and customer interactions.
  • Stakeholder roles are auto-classified, including economic buyer and champion.
  • The agent adds and removes stakeholder contacts in CRM automatically, according to Microsoft.
  • A redesigned Opportunity Research experience reached general availability on July 10, 2026.

Context

Opportunity Research complements the Sales Qualification Agent, which reached general availability on October 31, 2025. Microsoft's covered 2026 announcements include Copilot Cowork plug-ins in June, partner MCP servers for Sales agents in July, Dynamics 365 Activate in September and 30 CRM skills with a Sales Development Agent preview in October.
