Metadata adds Instagram and Threads placements and Google Customer Match imports
Metadata's August 13, 2026 release lets Facebook campaigns target Instagram placements, adds Threads as a Meta placement, and imports Google Ads Customer Match lists as retargeting audiences.
Metadata.io released eight features on August 13, 2026. Channel coverage expanded with Instagram placement targeting inside Facebook campaigns and Threads as a new Meta placement. Retargeting gained Google Ads Customer Match imports, which Metadata says matches import and targeting support already available for Meta and LinkedIn. Tracking gained a native ad group ID UTM value that resolves to each channel's ad group macro. Smaller changes clarify location targeting in the campaign wizard and add a confirmation step before deleting campaign drafts.
The details
- Instagram placements on Facebook campaigns keep unified reporting under Facebook.
- Customer Match lists created by Clay Ads are named as an example of importable lists.
- Native ad group ID resolves to {{adset.id}} for Meta, {adgroupid} for Google Ads and {AdGroupId} for Microsoft Ads.
- LinkedIn Engagement Retargeting audiences now show total engagement metrics.
Context
