Metadata adds G2 Buyer Intent token validation and LinkedIn permission checks

Metadata's September 24 release notes added G2 Buyer Intent validation at connection, LinkedIn role checks and Google Ads extension updates.

Metadata's September 24, 2026 release notes add validation of G2 tokens and permission checks for LinkedIn connections. When G2 is connected, the platform checks that the token can access G2 Buyer Intent data and rejects the connection with a specific error if it cannot. LinkedIn connections now verify that the member has the required ad account role and Company Page permissions. The release lists six features, including changes to LinkedIn audiences and Google Ads extensions.

The details

  • LinkedIn retargeting segments already imported are marked Already in Metadata and cannot be re-imported, and audiences can be renamed during import.
  • Changing a launched Google Ads keyword's match type now shows a pending sync state, and channel rejections appear as errors.
  • Business logo extensions now sync to Google Ads Search campaigns, and Business Name extensions are available across extension surfaces.
  • The September 10 release added a product chooser at login for users with access to both Metadata Platform and MetadataONE.
  • The September 10 release also added Microsoft Ads UTM mapping and per-keyword match-type changes.

Context

In our coverage, Metadata added X campaign management and finer LinkedIn company-size targeting in July 2026. The September releases focus on connection setup and campaign sync for G2, LinkedIn, Google Ads and Microsoft Ads. The September 10 product chooser reflects two products, Metadata Platform and MetadataONE, available to some users. The release notes page lists no entries after September 24. G2 announced G2 Audiences for using Buyer Intent data in paid media on September 23.
