On February 2, 2026, Webflow published details of the legacy Editor deprecation. The Editor, used for years by teams and clients for simple content updates, will be retired on August 4, 2026. Webflow scheduled an automatic migration starting May 4, 2026 that gives existing legacy Editor users a free limited seat or client seat. On the same day, Webflow introduced client seats on Workspace plans. The company pointed customers to a Migration Hub and said affected users would be notified by email.

The details

  • The legacy Editor will no longer be available starting August 4, 2026.
  • Automatic migration to a free limited seat or client seat begins May 4, 2026.
  • Client seats became available on Workspace plans for freelancers and agencies on February 2, 2026.
  • Webflow published a Migration Hub with dates and resources.
  • Affected customers receive an email about the transition.

Context

The deprecation sits alongside a set of Webflow collaboration changes in early 2026, including real-time collaboration reaching existing paid plans in January and completing its rollout in February. Webflow completed its migration of all sites to the next-gen CMS on April 9, 2026 and updated pricing with a new Team plan and AI credits on May 13, 2026.

Not disclosed

  • How many customers or sites still use the legacy Editor.
  • Long-term pricing of seats for former legacy Editor users after migration.
  • Whether any legacy Editor features have no equivalent in the new seat model.
