Webflow released MCP 2.0 on July 21, 2026. The Webflow MCP server connects AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor to Webflow sites for design, build and site management. Version 2.0 adds support for styles, elements and components, including props, slots and variants, binding elements and components to CMS data, and managing custom fonts. The bridge app is no longer needed for most tasks, allowing agents to work across multiple pages or sites, though it is still required for tasks that need live visual context. The release also adds Agent Instructions, site performance analysis and governance features. Webflow says MCP 2.0 is available to all users at no additional cost.
The details
- Agent Instructions let teams point agents at a design system, CMS content or documents such as legal and voice guidelines, and define skills and rules; they work with Webflow AI and third-party agents.
- Agents can query traffic trends, top pages, engagement events, time on page and traffic sources, and share that data with other MCP connectors such as Amplitude, Slack and Asana.
- Agents can work on branches in an isolated environment before changes go live.
- The MCP server enforces account roles and permissions, including custom roles and access by site, CMS collection, page and locale.
- Site activity logs record MCP actions, who triggered them and what changed, and can be queried through MCP.
- The bridge app remains required for snapshots and prompts that reference a specific on-screen element.
Context
MCP 2.0 came three weeks after Webflow launched an app inside ChatGPT for site and CMS management on July 1, 2026, and one week before it added AEO content optimization agents for Enterprise. Webflow continued expanding the MCP server afterward, adding interactions and Webflow Cloud and, on October 15, analytics data and a Google Gemini connector.
