Backstory, formerly People.ai, published its August release in a blog post on August 17, 2026. The release adds My Meetings in Backstory Sheets, a meeting preparation view that shows deal stage, amount, close date, account or deal summary and flagged risks, along with participants matched to the account or opportunity. It also adds a weekly Forecast Trends email that shows how the forecast changed in dollars and percent, with a Review Deals link to a drill-in view. Backstory now supports Microsoft Dynamics, and Situation Search, its comparable deal history feature, now works at the account level as well as on individual deals.
The details
- My Meetings shows each participant's role in the process, engagement level and stated interests, and lets users ask Backstory's assistant questions about the account or opportunity on the meeting page.
- Post-meeting insights are moved to the front of the meeting view.
- The Forecast Trends email compares the forecast with the prior week and links to a deal-level drill-in through a Review Deals button.
- Dynamics support includes account and opportunity summaries with topics, risks and next steps, Engagement Dashboards and automatic creation of enriched contacts discovered in activity data.
- Admins configure the Dynamics integration in the Admin Panel without an engineering request, according to the company.
- Existing customers are directed to their Customer Success Manager for access.
Context
This release extends Situation Search, which Backstory launched on July 21, 2026, from individual deals to account-level history. It is the second product release in our coverage since People.ai renamed itself Backstory in April 2026, with the other items in that period covering executive hires. Backstory's next product item in our coverage, on October 1, added MCP record search and fiscal year forecasting.
