Salesforce moves Salesforce for Outlook retirement to January 30, 2027

Salesforce's Winter '27 release notes, updated the week of September 28, 2026, say Salesforce for Outlook retires on January 30, 2027 instead of December 2027, after which it stops syncing contacts, events and tasks.

Salesforce brought forward the retirement of Salesforce for Outlook. The Spring '26 and Summer '26 release notes gave a December 2027 date. The Winter '27 change log shows an update the week of September 14, 2026 moving the date to November 1, 2026, then an update the week of September 28 setting January 30, 2027. Salesforce names the Outlook integration and Einstein Activity Capture as replacements. Salesforce says it continues to add enhancements to the Outlook integration and Einstein Activity Capture every release. The notes link a knowledge article and a migration guide for moving from Salesforce for Outlook to these products.

The details

  • Retirement date: January 30, 2027.
  • Previously scheduled for December 2027.
  • After retirement, contact, event and task sync stops and the side panel is no longer available.
  • Applies in Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic across Contact Manager through Developer editions.

Context

Salesforce has been moving activity data and email integrations to newer products, including the Lightning Sync migration away from Exchange Web Services noted in Summer '26. The company also introduced Core, Advanced and Max editions on September 3, 2026. Earlier, on April 15, 2026, Salesforce introduced Headless 360, and on September 15, 2026 it unveiled AIforce for running its platform inside Claude, Slack and Lightning.
