Salesforce announced on October 12, 2026 that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Loops, an AI-powered analytics platform. Loops monitors business performance, explains why key metrics change and uses machine learning models to suggest ways to improve results. After closing, Salesforce plans to bring Loops' technology and team into Tableau as part of what it calls its agentic analytics strategy. The deal is expected to close in early November, subject to customary closing conditions.
The details
- Loops tracks key performance indicators, flags trends and anomalies, and surfaces drivers of change.
- Loops can be triggered from Slack and email and offers headless agentic capabilities.
- Salesforce places the expected close in early November of its fiscal year 2027.
- The announcement quotes Mark Recher, EVP and GM of Tableau, and Loops CEO and co-founder Tom Laufer.
Context
Loops was the first of two acquisitions Salesforce announced in October 2026; eight days later it agreed to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion. Our coverage also records the Dreamforce 2026 agent releases on September 28, the AIforce and Koa announcements on September 15, and the Claudeforce partnership with Anthropic in August. Salesforce says Tableau is helping customers move from being data-driven to being agentic analytics enterprises. Laufer said Loops was built so analytics would help businesses understand their results and decide what to do next.
