On July 9, 2026, Clay introduced its Agent Plugin, which bundles Clay's API, command line interface, MCP server and skills so technical GTM builders can use Clay from coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor. The API fetches Clay's company, people and jobs data and data from more than 200 marketplace vendors, and triggers existing workflows, functions or agents, while the CLI builds new workflows in Clay from natural language. Clay says work saves automatically into Clay, with Audiences and Workflows updating as users build. The company frames the plugin as a replacement for one-off scripts and manually maintained integrations and rate limits inside coding agents.

The details

  • Setup instructions are published in the clay-run/agent-plugins repository on GitHub.
  • Clay names TAM sourcing, prospecting list building and inbound lead automation as expected starting projects.
  • Workflows built through the plugin can be reviewed visually in Clay's Workflows product, which the post describes as an alpha product.
  • Clay says it maintains more than 200 live data integrations and that platform permissions apply to plugin-built workflows.
  • Work triggered through the plugin costs the same as the same work done in the product, with no added charge for API or CLI use.
  • The plugin is available on all plans during open beta, including legacy self-serve plans through the end of 2026.

Context

The Agent Plugin preceded two other Clay releases in July in our coverage: open-weight models in Claygent on July 16 and TAM sourcing updates on July 28. Workflows, which the plugin builds into, entered an open beta for running plays on live audiences on August 11, and Clay raised a $115 million Series D on September 9.

Not disclosed

  • Pricing after the open beta ends
  • API rate limits
  • A general availability date
