Clay opens beta for Account Agents inside Workflows

Clay made Account Agents available in Workflows as an open beta. Agents can use account history and CRM context to decide how a play responds.

Clay announced on August 25, 2026 that Account Agents can now be added as a node inside Workflows, in open beta. According to the company blog, an Account Agent picks up a workflow trigger, such as an inbound lead, a deal stage change or an account entering an Audience segment, already knowing the account's past contacts, prior campaigns, deal history and its own earlier conclusions. It then chooses an action from the set defined in the workflow. Clay gives the example of a demo request from a past trial account going to the AE who handled it, while a new account goes to qualification.

The details

  • Execution steps after the agent can include branching on its decision, follow-up enrichment and Slack notifications with reasoning attached.
  • Each run writes findings back to Audiences, and inputs, outputs, timing and cost per record appear in the workflow run trace.
  • Agents in Audiences draw on sources including Gong calls, CRM history, email activity and product usage.
  • Workflow agent nodes can use a general-purpose Claygent or an Account Agent with account context.
  • Example plays: inbound lead automation, signal-based outbound and closed-lost re-engagement.

Context

This builds on the Workflows beta Clay opened on August 11, 2026 for running plays on live audiences, and on agents in Audiences. Clay later made Sequencer generally available (September 1), raised a $115 million Series D (September 9) and previewed agent-led building and an Inbound SDR Agent at Sculpt 2026 on October 8.
