Clay announced general availability of Clay MCP on July 14, 2026. Operations teams build functions in Clay, such as finding a validated phone number or adding a prospect to a sequence, and enable them for MCP. Reps then call those functions in plain language from six AI tools: Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, and the newly added Microsoft 365 Copilot and Glean. Clay says MCP with functions is available on all modern plans.

The details

  • Functions draw on Clay's marketplace of 200+ data providers and its AI agents, and results flow to the CRM, sequencer and Audiences.
  • Ops keeps control of data logic, compliance rules and CRM write behavior, and can set budgets and permissions per rep.
  • Functions check the CRM at each step so only net-new contacts are used.
  • When ops changes a function, such as switching a preferred phone provider, every rep receives the change automatically.
  • Rep use cases include finding contacts and companies, getting verified phones and emails, and researching accounts.

Context

Clay MCP's general availability came three weeks after Clay launched Audiences on June 23, 2026, which MCP functions can write to. In August Clay added new Clay Ads destinations and opened Workflows in beta. In September the company raised a $115M Series D at a $7.1B valuation and made its Sequencer cold email product generally available. ZoomInfo, 6sense and other data vendors also released MCP access to their platforms during mid-2026.
