What we are seeing
Google Cloud announced the Gemini agent at Gemini at Work on October 8. It handles questions, knowledge work, media and code from one interface and API, can be scheduled or event triggered, and keeps working in the cloud. It chooses among models, including Gemini and Anthropic's Claude. In Workspace, users can describe a role and Gemini creates a coworker agent with its own account that follows sharing permissions. Connectors cover Salesforce, ServiceNow, Slack, Jira, Snowflake, Databricks and any MCP server. Governance includes attested agent identities, audit logs, an agent gateway and real-time spend caps. Industry versions for financial services and legal are in preview. General availability dates and pricing are not stated.
