G2 announced on September 10, 2026 that it is part of OpenAI's launch of the Data agent in ChatGPT Work. In a post by co-founder and CEO Godard Abel, G2 says it will bring verified reviews and buyer intent data into ChatGPT Work so users can explore software market signals and build dashboards using natural language. Examples include understanding where buyers are in a purchase journey, where customers are switching to and from, and how a company's traffic and answer engine visibility compare with peers. G2 says this builds on G2 MCP, which already connects Buyer Intent and review data to AI tools including ChatGPT.
The details
- G2 says its marketplace network, including Capterra, Software Advice and GetApp, reaches more than 200 million buyers a year.

- More than 1,200 users across more than 550 organizations already query G2 Buyer Intent and review data through natural language prompts, according to the post.
- Arpan Shah, general manager of technology at OpenAI, is quoted.
- Vendors can use G2 Buyer Intent insights in ChatGPT Work to see which products and competitors buyers are evaluating.
