Factors.ai added absolute scoring for engagement categories, letting customers set their own Hot, Warm, Cool and Ice score boundaries instead of grading accounts by percentile.

Factors.ai changed how engagement categories can be assigned. In addition to percentile-based grading, customers can now grade accounts by absolute score, defining the score boundaries for Hot, Warm, Cool and Ice categories themselves. The company says this keeps each category's meaning stable over time, since an account's category no longer moves just because other accounts became more or less active. The change was listed under the Platform category in the company's product updates for September 2026, the most recent entry on the page.
The details
- Categories: Hot, Warm, Cool and Ice.
- Customers set their own score boundaries for each category.
- Absolute thresholds are offered as an alternative to percentile grading.
- Listed under the Platform category on September 10, 2026.
Context
Account scoring feeds the CRM widgets, scheduled CRM sync and research agents Factors.ai shipped in mid 2026, including the Salesforce and HubSpot widgets covered on July 31. In June the company also began launching new projects with a pre-configured signal library so accounts receive scores immediately after onboarding. Absolute thresholds give customers a fixed definition of each category on top of those scores.
