What we are seeing
DeepSeek announced on October 17 that its Search and Fetch APIs, powered by the same in-house search engine as its web and app search, are generally available to API users. They cost $0.75 per 1,000 calls per endpoint, and calls made through server-side tools in DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code and Codex were free until billing began on October 31. The same release updated the deepseek-flash model to DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017, which the company says scores higher, finishes tasks faster and produces shorter outputs than the prior version. Model pricing and calling are unchanged, and weights are on Hugging Face and ModelScope. No enterprise plans are mentioned.
