What we are seeing
Anthropic said on October 1 that Barclays is widening its use of Claude for software development, legacy modernization and operations. Barclays expects Claude Code adoption to reach 50 percent of its developers by the end of 2026 and a majority of software engineers by 2027. A Claude-based Colleague Knowledge Assistant, live in the UK since 2025, has more than 16,000 users and has handled over one million searches, according to the announcement. In Global Markets, Claude models classify and route about 120,000 client emails a day. Barclays says it applies governance, security controls and human oversight to these uses. Commercial terms were not disclosed.
