What we are seeing
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5 on September 28 as a faster, lower cost complement to Claude Opus 5.5. It is available on the Claude Platform as claude-sonnet-5-5 and through Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, with zero data retention available. Pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cache reads cut to $0.10. Anthropic attributes the per-task savings to fewer tokens per task in its own testing. Higher risk cybersecurity requests fall back to Sonnet 5. Named customer testimonials include Slack, Zendesk, Box and Atlassian. Claude Haiku 5.5 followed on October 7.
